CLIFTON PARK - A Clifton Park man stole more than $10,000 from an older victim in a scheme begun while getting the victim groceries, New York State Police said.

Anthony Cafararo Jr., 58, of Clifton Park was charged Saturday with third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree grand larceny, along with petit larceny, police said.

Cafararo is accused of accessing the victim's bank card to obtain groceries for the elderly victim.

But he then also used the card to withdraw more than $10,000 at multiple ATMs without notifying the victim or having permission, police said. The money was never returned to the victim.

The investigation began in December, police said.

Cafararo was processed and released to appear in court later.
