LITTLE FALLS - A town justice in the town of Little Falls has resigned after his arrest and guilty plea in a drug sale case, the state Commission on Judicial Conduct said Monday.

Mitchell Q. Soules, Jr., has formally resigned from the court after he pleaded guilty last month to one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, the commission said.

Soules was arrested in June 2023 and charged with multiple drug possession and sale counts, the commission said.

The case was handled by the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.

The commission was also investigating a second complaint that alleged Soules invoked his judicial office when trying to get the Herkimer police to drive him home from a spot where he was stranded, the commission said.

A stipulation of his resignation is that he agreed never to seek or accept judicial office in the future.

Soules had been justice in the Town of Little Falls court since 2022. He is not attorney. His current term was to expire at the end of 2025.
