Bite-sized is a new regular feature where we’ll spotlight upcoming local food festivals, special events, menu changes, restaurant news and more. Let’s dig in.
Back in business
The day has finally arrived: Jumpin’ Jack’s is officially open.
The ever-popular Scotia drive-in is serving up its traditional Jack Burger, fries and ice cream, as well as something new this season. The menu now includes gluten-free rolls and cones, as well as gluten-free, dairy-free brownies. In a Facebook post, the drive-in notes that the grill is not a gluten-free cooking surface.
Jumpin' Jack’s has been in business since 1952 and it caters to customers’ cravings for nostalgia: the taste of a coleslaw-topped Jack Burger; the staff’s shout-out of “subway!” when a patron gives a tip; the first soft-serve ice cream cone of the season, eaten at a picnic table in the sun.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For more information visit Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In on Facebook.
New digs
