Golf tournaments to support libraries
Two events are open for area golfers which support mini grants awarded by the Foundation for Mohawk Valley Libraries to the 14 public libraries in 22 locations within the Mohawk Valley Library System in Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie Counties.
Call your library to learn how the four years of awarded mini grants have specifically benefited them.
One event is taking place at Canajoharie Golf & Country Club, daily now through Monday.
The event is a four-person scramble 2020 style socially distant golf tournament. Drive to CG&CC with a team, golf 18 holes (at the club rate), turn in team score card, entry form, and tournament entry fee ($25 per golfer) to the clubhouse. The first-place team will receive 10 percent of foundation entry fee total,
The second-place team will receive 5 percent of the entry fee total. Team captains will be awarded the prizes at the conclusion of the tournament on Aug. 31 for distribution to team members. For more information, call the club at (518) 673-8183.
The second event will take place at Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady.
Participants may play on the 18-hole Parkland course in the annual Esther Swanker Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 25. Registration in advance is preferred.
Registration is scheduled to begin 8 a.m. There will be a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m.. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.. A full buffet lunch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The registration fee will be $145 per golfer and there will be traditional course prizes, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
