DiamondDawgs end Mohawks win streak with 6-1 victory
AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Mohawks fell to the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 6-1 Friday at Rao Family Stadium.
Poor pitching and untimely hitting plagued the first-place Mohawks in their seventh defeat of the season. Mohawks pitchers hit seven batters Friday and gave out seven walks.
However, only down four runs the Mohawks had runners in scoring position with no outs in three different innings, including the bases loaded and nobody out in the fifth and did not score.
Kai Roberts (Utah) provided the only offense with an RBI double down the right-field line in the seventh for Amsterdam.
James Salemme (Union) takes the loss after going 3 2/3-innings allowing two runs. Joey Silan (Delaware) got the win with six shutout innings.
After having their seven-game win streak snapped, the Mohawks look to start a new winning streak in Oneonta tonight.
