Track & Field Roundup: Mayfield-Northville boys, girls post WAC wins over Galway

MAYFIELD — The Mayfield-Northville boys and girls track and field teams posted Western Athletic Conference victories over Galway on Tuesday at Mayfield Elementary School.

The Mayfield-Northville boys won by a 110-18 margin, while the girls posted a 98-37 victory.

In the boys meet, Mayfield-Northville won 15 of 17 events on their way to the win.

Braden Jourden won three events for Mayfield-Northville, picking up wins in the 1,600 meters, 3,200 meters and 800 meters.

Dylan Giblin (200, 100) and Brody Deal (110 hurdles, 400 hurdles) each won two events for Mayfield-Northville, while Dawson Leach (long jump), Britain Goodemote (triple jump), Dylan Merk (pole vault) and Masen Valachovic (400) also posted wins.

Galway’s Charlie Clarke and Mayfield-Northville’s Mike Smigen tied for the win in the high jump with a height of 5-4.

Mayfield-Northville also won the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Thomas Villano won the shot put and discus for Galway

In the girls meet, Mayfield-Northville cruised to the win, by posting victories in 15 of 17 victories.

Jordan Miller won the pole vault, 400 hurdles and long jump for Mayfield-Northville, while Madison Relyea (1,500 meters, 800), Hannah Hoffman (100, 200) each won two events.

Delaney LaFontaine (400), Kaylinn Ginter (high jump), Fianna Halloran (discus), Sally Agerter (shot put) and Kiarah Levine (100 hurdles) also posted wins for Mayfield-Northville, which also won the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Julia Reedy (triple jump) and Emma Jordan (3,000) won events for Galway.

FFCS sweeps Fort Plain-OESJ

FORT PLAIN — The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls posted Western Athletic Conference victories over Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

The FFCS girls won 103-32 and the boys won by a 115-25 margin.

In the girls meet, Fonda-Fultonville won 15 of 17 events on its way to the win.

Amelia Petersen won the 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters and 100 meters for the Lady Braves

Haley Clear (1,500 meters, 3,000 meters), Talia Anderson (400, long jump) and Jill Sandel (400 hurdles, high jump) all won two events for Fonda-Fultonville.

Caroline Young (800), Molly Hotaling (triple jump) and Megan Mormile (pole vault) also posted wins for the Lady Braves.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Sarah Florian won the shot put and discus for Fort Plain-OESJ.

In the boys meet, Fonda-Fultonville won 15 of 17 events on its way to the win.

Carter Petersen won four events for the Braves, picking up victories in the 110 hurdles, 100, 200 and pole vault.

Shane Viscosi (1,600 meters, 3,200 meters), Trevor Cline (800, triple jump) and Alessandro Saltsman (shot put, discus) all won two events for FFCS, while Allan Booth (400) and Cayden Egelston (high jump) also won events.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Armand Root won the 400 hurdles for Fort Plain-OESJ, while Seth Richardson won the long jump.

CANAJOHARIE — The Canajoharie boys and girls track and field teams posted Western Athletic Conference victories over Middleburgh on Tuesday.

The girls won 93-36, while the boys posted an 82-49 win.

In the boys meet, Canajoharie won nine of 17 events to earn the victory.

Russell Porter won the shot put and discus for the Cougars, while Dawson Sweet won the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.

Kyle Oertel (pole vault), Jeffrey Xiao (400) and Samuel Sunderland (triple jump) also posted wins for the Cougars.

Canajoharie also won the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

In the girls meet, Canajoharie won 12 of 17 events on its way to the win.

Vanessa VanSlyke won the triple jump, 400 meters and 200 meters for the Cougars, while Mariah Hazzard won the 100 meters and 400-meter hurdles.

Sophie Xiao (800), Kiana Peet (110 hurdles), Kaijah Fowler (high jump) and Felise Fowler (shot put) also posted wins for Canajoharie.

The Cougars also won the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.
