Johnstown sweeps Foothills track meet from Gloversville

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown track and field teams opened their season with a sweep of Gloversville in Foothills Council action Thursday at Knox Field.

Jayden Elston and Adam Sweet were double individual victors for the Sir Bills as the defeated Gloversville 98-20, while Kirsten Draper posted a pair of individual victories as Johnstown defeated the Huskies 64.5-42.5.

Elston took top honors in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-08 and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.2.

Sweet swept the weight events, winning the shot put with a toss of 34-0 and the discus with a throw of 94-06.

Mekhi Lanier was a double winner for Gloversville, winning the 100-meter days with a time of 11.1 and the 200-meter dash in 23.6.

Draper led the Lady Bills with her wins in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:34.8 and the triple jump with a leap of 24-11.

Macey Salvione was a double winner for Gloversville, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.6 and the long jump with a leap of 13-10.

Broadalbin-Perth, Amsterdam split Foothills meet

BROADALBIN — Powered by three victories apiece from Trevor Dzikowicz and Jacob Gomez, the Amsterdam Rams edged Broadalbin-Perth 73-67 in Foothills Council track and field action Thursday at Broadalbin-Perth High School.

The Broadalbin-Perth girls got three victories from Ava Tyler as the Lady Patriots defeated Amsterdam 74.5-64.5.

Tyler scored victories in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.9 and the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:24.6 before taking top honors in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10-0.

Emma Fraiser was a double winner for the Lady Patriots, topping the field in the 1,500-meter run with her time of 6:02.4 and the 3,000 with a time of 13:10.2.

Alani Aleman led Amsterdam with her victories in the 200-meter dash in 30.20 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 68.8.

Dzikowicz won the 800 meters in 2:12.9, the 1,600 in 5:09.6 and the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:35.8.

Gomez topped the field in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.0 and the 400 with his time of 54.6 before winning the long jump with a leap of 20-01.

Garrett McHeard was a double-winner for the Rams, sweeping the shot put with a toss of 45-05 and the discus with a throw of 134-09.

Daniel Dylong claimed victory in a pair of individual events for the Patriots, winning the pole vault with a height of 11-06 and the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 1:10.7.

Galway sweeps Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons

GALWAY — Julia Reedy, Emma Jordan and Molly Oravsky were double winner for Galway as the Golden Eagles overpowered Bishop Gibbons 85-15, while the Galway boys got two individual victories apiece from Thomas Villano, Charlie Clarke and Rowan Smith in their 52-38 win Thursday at Galway High School.

Reedy took top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.8 and the triple jump with a leap of 30-02 1/2, while Jordan won the 800 and the 1,500-meter runs and Oravsky win the shot put and the 400-meter dash.

Villano won the shot put with a toss of 35-8 1/2 and the discus with a throw of 104-02 1/2. Clarke won the triple hump with a leap of 33-10 and the high jump with a height of 5-08 and Smith won the 100-meter dash with time of 12.3 and the 400 meters in 65.5.

Tom Kienzle was a double winner for Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons with his victories in the long jump and the 800 meter run.
