GHS tennis team loses opener, 7-0

GLOVERSVILLE — Glens Falls won all five singles matches and both doubles contests to post a 7-0 victory over Gloversville in a Foothills Council boys tennis match Monday.

Heath Borgos, Vincent Westfall, Nick Westfall, Trevor DiMezza and Peyton Catarelli all won singles match for the Indians.

Borgos topped Gloversville in a three-set marathon 7-6 (7-2), 5-7 and 7-6 (7-2), while Vincent Westfall defeated the Huskies’ Emran Abbas in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Benny Heyman and Nate Greenwood won at first doubles for Glens Falls (1-0 overall, 1-0 Foothills), while Alex Corrento and Durant Poole won at second doubles.

In other Foothills Council openers on Monday, Queensbury blanked Hudson Falls, 7-0, and South Glens Falls topped Schuylerville, 4-1.

Gloversville (0-1 overall, 0-1 Foothills) is off until May 10 when it is scheduled to travel to Scotia-Glenville.
