Braves, Patriots notch season-opening wins
JOHNSTOWN — Powered by a seven-run first inning, the Fonda-Fultonville Braves opened their season with a 22-3 non-league victory over Johnstown Thursday at Johnstown High School.
Tyler Sweet led the Braves going 4 for 5 with four singles and three RBIs, while Justin Kearns was 3 for 4 with three singles and four RBIs and Kyle Lawyer went 2 or 5 with a double and a single. Riley Cole went 2 for 4 for the Braves with two singles and two RBIs, while Charlie Susi was 2 for 3 with two singles and two RBIs. Tyler Daus added a double and three RBIs, while Bonnz DiCaprio and Malacki Cromer both singled.
Mick Winton went 2 for 3 for the Sir Bills with a pair of singles, while Dawson Sanges was 2 for 2 with two singles and Ethan Euler singled.
Fonda-Fultonville (1-0) will open its Western Athletic Conference campaign today at Fort Plain (0-0), while Johnstown (0-1) will host Schuylerville today in its Foothills Council opener.

DUANESBURG — Ryan Hertik and TJ Platt combined to throw a one-hitter for Broadalbin-Perth as the Patriots romped to a 10-2 season-opening non-league victory over Duanesburg Thursday at Duanesburg High School.
Jake Terwilliger had a big day at the plate, hitting a triple and a double to go with two RBIs and a run scored, while Platt doubled and singled and Ryan Visco had two singles, two RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored.The Patriots stole 11 bases in the game with Visco, Ryan Savoie and Ian Schwartz stealing three apiece to go with one each for Mike Magliocca and Platt.
Shane Wetherington collected Duanesburg’s lone hit, an RBI single.
