FULTONVILLE — The third time was nearly the charm for Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.

After its first two events of the season were rained out, Sunday’s card was just two features from being completed when the skies opened up with the pro stock feature set to begin.

Though all features were not completed, most were, with six drivers notching opening-night wins.

Andrew Buff (602 crate sportsman), Adam Tranka (street stock), Wayne Russell Jr. (mini stock — single cam), Josh Kane (mini stock — dual cam), Tavien Blowers (all-star slingshots) and Josh Landers (junior slingshots) all picked up victories Sunday.

When last season ended, Andrew Buff and Travis Green finished tied for the Glen Ridge 602 crate sportsman track title.

On Sunday, the championship-sharing duo had mixed results with Buff leading all 30 laps to win the 602 crate sportsman feature, while Green struggled to a 16th-place finish.

Tony Farone, Ricky Quick, Cody Ochs and Justin Buff rounded out the top five Sunday, while Tanner Warner, Garrett Poland, Brendan Gibbons, Darryl Nutting and Ryan Heath completed the top 10.

Andrew Buff, Farone and Quick won the 602 crate sportsman heat races.

Tranka, who was second in last year’s street stock point standings, opened the 2021 season with a victory.

Jason Samrov led early before Tranka made the pass and went on to win the 15-lap feature.

Samrov and Allen picked up the street stock heat race victories.

Defending mini stock dual cam track champion Josh Kane picked up where he left off last season, claiming the season-opening victory in the division.

Kane, who won 10 times last season, topped Brandon Tyler, Jamie Warner, Zach McSpirit and Ariana Schultz to win the 15-lap feature.

Wayne Russell Jr., who won the mini stock single cam track title in 2020, won the season-opening event and finished fifth overall. Russell, who picked up five wins last year, was followed to the line by Harris St. Andrews. Dale VanAllen, Lee Horning and Ray Young completed the top five.

Blowers outdueled defending track champion Dan Ballard and Brett Putnam to pick up the victory in the 15-lap all-star slingshot feature. Putnam finished second, while Putnam was third. Rounding out the top five were Adam Fusco and Brock Pinkerous.

Blowers and Putnam picked up the all-star slingshot heat race wins.

In the junior slingshot feature, Landers got by early leader Hayden Ackerknecht and went on to pick up the season-opening victory in the 12-lap feature.

Lucas Duncan was second, Chase Zimmer was third, Avery Decker was fourth and Corky Warner was fifth.

Ackerknecht and Landers won the junior slingshot heat races.
