H.S. Volleyball Roundup: C-FP gets past OESJ
FORT PLAIN — Sarah Paradiso finished with 11 service points and six aces to help Canajoharie-Fort Plain to a 3-1 win over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday.
C-FP won by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-13.
Kaylee Sanders posted eight service points, eight digs, seven kills and three aces for Canajoharie-Fort Plain (1-3 overall, 1-3 WAC), while Samara Mattice recorded nine service points, five aces and one kill. Charleigh Kilmartin notched nine service points and seven aces for C-FP, Olivia Kennedy had nine service points and three aces and Zavia Allen added eight service points.
Kaydence Souza finished with 26 assists and 22 digs for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (0-2 overall, 0-2 WAC), while Abby Blakeslee recorded 23 assists and eight digs. Jade Dygert added 14 assists and four digs for the Lady Wolves.
Canajoharie-Fort Plain is scheduled to host Mayfield on Monday at 6:30 p.m., while OESJ is slated to host Fonda-Fultonville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Middleburgh 3, Duanesburg 1
DUANESBURG — Anna Hooper finished with 10 assists and three aces to help Middleburgh to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Duanesburg on Tuesday.
The Knights won by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-18.
Halle Haemmerle posted nine service points for Middleburgh, Kelsey Layaou had six kills and Megan Bramer added four aces.
Diana Esa and Julie Wenzel each had five service points and two aces for Duanesburg, while Hannah Borski had four service points, three kills, two aces and a block. Ella Moses recorded five service points for the Eagles and Jahna Palluti added four service points.
Bishop Gibbons 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0
BERNE — Ryenne Relyea finished with 11 service points and eight aces to help Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons post a Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.
The Golden Knights won by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-17.
Schoharie 3, Mekeel Christian 1
SCHOHARIE — Racquel Gerstenberger posted 11 points, seven kills and two blocks for Schoharie in a Western Athletic Conference victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.
The Indians won by scores of 25-22, 25-15, 14-25 and 25-21.
Ashley Young recorded 21 service points for Schoharie, while Delyvetta Vega had 18 points and 13 assists. Alyssa VanGasbeck added eight service points, five kills and three blocks for the Indians.
Gloversville 3, Mayfield 0
GLOVERSVILLE — Aireana Muhlberger recorded 24 assists and 11 digs to help Gloversville post a non-league victory over Mayfield on Tuesday.
The Huskies won by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-19.
Maddy Avery finished with 15 digs and 13 kills for Gloversville, while Macey Salvione had 19 digs, 10 kills and eight aces. Alana Biasini added 10 digs and four kills for the Huskies, who improved to 9-0 overall.
Deandra Myers finished with 14 digs and three kills for Mayfield (2-3 overall), while Julia Fitzgerald had 11 digs, two kills and one block. Brooke Long notched two aces and two kills for the Lady Panthers, Lila King had 20 digs and Maddie King added two blocks.
Mayfield is slated to host Galway today at 6:30 p.m., while Gloversville is scheduled to host Amsterdam on Thursday at 6 p.m.
