Boys Soccer Roundup: Snell’s hat trick leads Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville past Northville

NORTHVILLE — Mason Snell scored three goals to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a 5-1 victory over Northville in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest that featured just as many cards as goals.

The teams also met last Tuesday in a chippy contest at Fonda-Fultonville that saw the Wolves eke out a 2-1 victory.

Ian Smith and Andrew Snell also scored for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Curtis Arnold scored the lone goal for Northville (3-2 overall, 3-2 WAC).

Travis LaFountain made two saves for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (4-0 overall, 4-0 WAC).

Landon Frasier and Daniel VanNostrand combined to made seven saves for the Falcons, who are scheduled to travel to Fort Plain on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville is slated to host Mayfield on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Mayfield 6, Fonda-Fultonville 1

MAYFIELD — Britain Goodemote scored three goals and had an assist to lead Mayfield to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Fonda-Fultonville.

Jake Petoff and Kenny Dennis each had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, while Christian Scunziano also scored. Brody Deal also had an assist for Mayfield, who also got solid defensive efforts from Dylan Merk, Chandler Manchester, Aidan Halloran, Brice Williams and Tom Young.

Cody Hanson scored the lone goal for Fonda-Fultonville.

Aiden Martuscello made two saves and Sean Foreman made one save for Mayfield, which outshot the Braves by a 13-4 margin.

Jacob Sisco made seven saves for Fonda-Fultonville, which is scheduled to host Canajoharie on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Mayfield is slated to travel to Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville on Wednesday for a 4:30 pm.. contest.

Galway 4, Middleburgh 1

GALWAY — Braden Boudreau scored three goals to lift Galway to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Middleburgh.

The Golden Eagles also benefited from an own goal by the Knights.

Charlie Clarke had two assists for Galway, while Colin Anderson had one assist.

Andrew Johns scored the lone goal for Middleburgh.

Henry Flint made 10 saves for Galway, while Ian Hoop made six stops for Middleburgh.

Galway is scheduled to face Mekeel Christian Academy on Wednesday at Afrim’s Sports Park in Colonie at 6:30 p.m.

Fort Plain 2, Canajoharie 1

CANAJOHARIE — Matthew Travis had a goal and an assist to help Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Canajoharie.

Cameron David also scored for the Hilltoppers.

Braden Greenslete scored the lone goal for Canajoharie on an assist from Cody Haig.

“I want to give recognition to our Freshmen (Noah Colburn, Gavin Colburn, Brady Toher, Wyatt Mitchell, Sam Sunderland, and Will Douglass),” Canajoharie coach Kevin Stuttle said. “They have shown a great amount of growth and fight. The transition from modified to varsity is difficult, but especially this year.”

Robert Jordan made six stops for Fort Plain.

Andrew Meka made three saves for Canajoharie, which is scheduled to travel to Fonda-Fultonville on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. contest..

Fort Plain is slated to host Northville on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Mekeel Christian 10, Bishop Gibbons 1

SCHENECTADY — Len’s Lima finished with three goals and two assists to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

The Lions led 2-1 at halftime before scoring eight unanswered second-half goals.

Eli Lilienthal had two goals and two assists for Mekeel Christian. Ian Martuscello, Franky McCleneghen, Levi Armao and Toby Hvizdak also scored for the Lions.

Nicholas Kuban scored the lone goal for Bishop Gibbons, while Bruce Campbell made 12 saves for the Golden Knights.

Justin Davidson made one save for Mekeel Christian Academy.
