Cougars earn split in WAC league action

CANAJOHARIE — The Canajoharie Cougars earned a split in Western Athletic Conference bowling action.

The Cougars defeated Middleburgh 4-0 before falling to Duanesburg 4-0 and the Canajoharie girls fell to Middleburgh 4-0.

Canajoharie posted total pin fall of 2,573 against Middleburgh, which finished with 2,413 total pins.

Dereck Mereness led the Cougars with a 213-611 triple, while Tanner Ackerknecht finished with a 270-586 and Henry Yerdon rolled a 182-472 triple.

For the Lady Cougars Maura DiMezza rolled a 171-476 triple and Aver Merchant had a 138-378 series.

Jaidyn Rose led Middleburgh with her 252-638 triple, while Julia Bingham 232-558 and Caheryn Shultes with a 188-537.

Against Duanesburg, Mereness put together a 258-655 series, while Ian Lopez rolled a 177-446.

Tyler Drexel led Duanesburg with his 234-653 series, while Anthony Tenace finished with a 210-597 and Victoria Silva rolled a 210-558.

In a Western Athletic Conference match between Fonda-Fultonville and Duanesburg, three Braves topped the 600 mark.

Kyle Davis led the way with a 244-629 triple, while Ethan Auspelmyer rolled a 223-615 and Devin Humphrey finished with a 237-605 series.

Tomek Kowalczyk finished with a 244-593, while Hayden Auspelmyer rolled a 204-564 and Anthony Cannizzaro added a 187-539 triple.

Fort Plain 4, OESJ 0

CANAJOHARIE — Landen VanAlstine rolled a 199-560 to lead Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Damien Young rolled a 188-538 for he Hilltoppers, while Anthony Paradiso posted a 215-536. Ian Zuppardi added a 182-523 for Fort Plain, which finished with a 2,671-2,135 advantage in total pins.

Chris Jones posted a 201-538 to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, while Zack Blowers rolled a 172-459. Nick Rodriguez added a 153-404 for the Wolves.

The match was contested virtually with both teams bowling at their home lanes. The scores were combined later.

South Glens Falls 4,

Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM — South Glens Falls swept past Amsterdam in recent Foothills Council bowling action.

The Bulldogs rolled games of 1,213, 1,219 and 1,311 for 3,743 total pins, while Amsterdam rolled 1,139, 1,011 and 1,211 for 3,361 total pins.

Will Bickford led South High with his 277-778 triple, while Dalton Jones rolled a 279-759 and Jacob Hall added a 245-610 series.

Kai Brennan led amsterdam with his 277-694 triple, while Jon Wolff added a 215-564 and Makhi Curry finished with a 213-563.

With the win, South Glens Falls improved to 56-4 on the season, while Amsterdam fell to 47-13.
