JOHNSTOWN — The 2019-20 academic year and spring athletic season brought on many challenges. The National Junior College Athletic Association recognized 9,555 student-athletes who persevered through those challenges and achieved a GPA above 3.6. Five FMCC Student-Athletes were tabbed NJCAA All-Americans for the 2019-20 academic year: Dan Leach (men’s soccer, 3.84 GPA), Kira Williams (cross country, 3.81 GPA), Blake Carey (baseball, 3.73 GPA), Billy Newcomb (baseball, 3.66 GPA) and Alex VanDeusen (baseball, 3.81 GPA). Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2019-20 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are as follows: NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA; NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA; and NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA.
