Area riders post wins at Royal

CAROGA LAKE — Several area riders were among the winners Wednesday during Monster Energy Supercross competition at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigliato, Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert, Johnstown’s Bennett Melita, Northville’s Troy Palmer and Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell all claimed wins.

Miller won all four of his motos to claim victories in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old and mini 60-7-to-11-year-old classes.

Melita also won all four of his motos on his way to victories in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old and open mini 10-to-16-year-old classes.

Zelich won both motos to pick up the victory in the 122-125 two-stroke class. Zelich also was fourth in the 122-open amateur class.

Attigliato won both motos in to win the 122-open amateur class, while Cornell won both motos to win the mini quad 50cc class. Cornell also was fourth in the mini quad 51-90cc class.

Palmer was second in his first moto and first in his second moto to win the quad novice class, while Dygert posted a first and a second in his two motos to win the schoolboy class.

In addition to Miller and Melita, one other rider won multiple classes Wednesday

Stillwater’s Tim Flanagan won the 122-250 expert and 122-open expert classes. Flanagan won both 122-open expert motos and was second and first in the 122-250 expert motos to earn the win.

Other winners included Cobleskill’s Joe Edwards (122-open novice), Hannacroix’s Jody Hamilton (122-250 amateur), Voorheesville’s Peter Marrate (122-250 novice), East Nassau’s Aiden Held (50cc 4-6), East Berne’s Finn Smith (50cc 7-8), Coeymans Hollow’s Chaz Quinto (mini 80 9-11), Fort Ann’s Ian Liebmann (pit bike), Fort Ann’s Edward Ladd III (plus-30 amateur), Johnsville’s Brian Falzo (plus-30 expert), Brunswick’s Joe Falzo (plus-40 amateur),

In the quad classes, East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (mini quad 51-90cc) and East Syracuse’s Carson Stoquert (quad amateur) notched wins.

Several area riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes.

Fonda’s Carter Petersen was second in the 122-250 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was third. Petersen also was third in the 122-open amateur class.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was third in the 122-125 two-stroke class, Amsterdam’s Aiden Garrison was third in the mini 80 12-to 15-year-old class and Mayfield’s Jordan Miller was third in the quad amateur class.

Fonda’s Charles Rose was fourth in the 122-250 novice class and Johnstown’s Tayler Chicoski was fourth in the 122-open novice class.

Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was second in the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class, while Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was second in the plus-40 amateur class.

In the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class, Pattersonville’s Eason Baker was third and Johnstown’s Raymond Horning Jr. was fourth.

Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was second in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class, Eason Baker was fourth and Gloversville’s Evan Darling was fifth.

Amsterdam’s Calvin Dopp was second in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class, while St. Johnsville’s Hunter Hickey was third.

In the mini quad 50cc class, St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson was second and Gloversville’s Eastyn Rizzo was fourth

Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was second in the mini quad 51-90cc class and St. Johnsville’s Kaci Bare was fourth.

Broadalbin’s Grayson Guttenberg was second in the pit bike class, while Gloversville’s Frederick Groves was fourth.

Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-30 expert class, while Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was fifth in the plus-30 amateur class.

In the quad novice class, Broadalbin’s Eithen Salvione was second, Gloversville’s Tyler Covey was third, Fonda’s Skyler Olmstead was fourth and Amsterdam’s Kolby Krutz was fifth.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was second in the schoolboy class, while Gloversville’s Nicholas Hughes was third.
