FFCS concludes 23rd annual volleyball tournament
FONDA — The Fonda-Fultonville High School Physical Education Department recently concluded its 23rd Annual Physical Education Volleyball Tournament.
To promote physical fitness and lifetime activities the physical education department ran a volleyball unit and then for four days after school ran a volleyball tournament involving Fonda-Fultonville high school students.
There were 12 teams of about 100 students. This was a co-ed tournament, but some teams were all girls or all boys. The Final Four was played in front of the whole High School student body and faculty at an assembly on March 13.
Following the championship match was a student all-star versus faculty all-star match, which pitted the FFCS student all-stars against faculty all-star team. The championship of the student tournament was played between Can’t Touch This and Smash. Can’t Touch This won the championship by scores of 15-6, 15-6.
Members of Can’t Touch This championship team were Marilyn Whitcavitch, Kyla Smith, Carly Atty, Maddy Mott, Taylor Ferrucci, Tyler Schmidtmann, Zen Myles, Connor Weaver, Quincy Lake.
Following the championship match was the student all-stars versus the faculty all-stars match.
Members of the all-star team for the students were John Mancini, Andrew Georgia, Marilyn Whitcavitch, Julia Bagnardi, Allen Booth, Jacob Sisco, Derek Duval and Tyler Sweet.
The faculty all-star team consisted of Tom Carpenter, Ashleigh Griswold, Kyle Hanson, Scott Keefer, Sheri Boardman, Jason Mosenthin and Tammy Berberich.
The championship team and the all-star teams were all awarded T-shirts for their efforts.
Members of Can’t Touch This will have their names put on the Championship plague, which has all the past champions on it.
Rick Palumbo and Ashleigh Griswold coordinated the tournament.
