Girls Basketball Roundup: Second-half surge lifts Mayfield to win

JOHNSTOWN — After trailing 31-18 at the half, the Mayfield girls basketball team used a huge second-half rally to post a 59-55 victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons in a Western Athletic Conference crossover contest Friday at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Lindsey Hampton scored 19 points to lead the Lady Panthers, while Kelsey Meca had 15 points. Cloey Dopp added four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points for Mayfield.

Ayanna Jackson scored 14 points to lead Bishop Gibbons, while Saige Randolph added 12 points.

Mayfield (12-8 overall) now awaits the pairings for the Section II Class C Tournament. They will be announced Wednesday.

NORTHVILLE — Taylor Meacham finished with 17 points to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a WAC victory over Northville on Thursday.

The Bulldogs outscored the Lady Falcons 34-18 in the second half to earn the win. Alexis Wright scored 12 points for BKW (9-3 WAC).

Kerrigan Groff scored 11 points to lead Northville (9-10 overall), while Jaycee Frasier and Morgan Mackey each had eight points.

MIDDLEBURGH — Gianna Bynum finished with 16 points to lead Middleburgh to a WAC victory over Fort Plain on Tuesday.

Alyssa Wayman had 14 points for the Knights, while Hallie Gasner added 10 points.

Erin Crouse scored 14 points to lead the Lady Hilltoppers.

On Saturday, Fort Plain dropped a 59-16 at Cherry Valley-Springfield.

The Patriots led 23-4 after one quarter on their way to the win.

Kendra McGovern scored 18 points to lead Cherry Valley-Springfield, while Kelsey Girard added 10 points.

Sarah Lewis and Joleen Lusk each had nine points for the Patriots.

DOLGEVILLE — Maria Luther finished with 16 points to lead Frankfort-Schuyler to a victory over Dolgeville on Friday.

The Maroon Knights led 21-10 at the half to send the Blue Devils to their fourth straight loss.

Skye Simmons had eight points for Frankfort-Schuyler and Brooke Lawson added seven points.

Ryanne Williams had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists for Dolgeville (7-13 overall), while Hannah Stack had 12 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks.

Kerisa VanOlst finished with nine points — on three 3-pointers — for the Blue Devils.

GLENS FALLS — Lexi Cutter scored 12 points to lead Glens Falls to a victory over Broadalbin-Perth in a non-league game between Foothills Council rivals Friday.

Ashley Bordeaux finished with nine points for the Indians, who outscored the Lady Patriots 16-11 in the second half to rally from an 18-14 halftime deficit.

Makenzie Smith scored 12 points to lead Broadalbin-Perth (5-14 overall), while Emma Goebel added seven points for the Lady Patriots.

Broadalbin-Perth is scheduled to host Scotia-Glenville in their regular-season finale on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Patriots jumped out to a 41-32 halftime lead on their way tot the victory.

Sarah Lewis had 17 points for the Patriots and Marijke Kroon added 10 points.

Monica Hartlieb scored 22 points to lead Canajoharie (8-10 overall), while Kylee Rickard had 17 points.

Cheyenne Rebello added 10 points for the Cougars.

Canajoharie is slated to face Middleburgh today in a Western Athletic Conference crossover game at Fulton-Montgomery Community College at 1:30 p.m.

It is the regular-season finale for both teams.
