Galway to celebrate women in sports
GALWAY — Galway Central School District will join entities across the nation to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Thursday.
From 1-2:15 p.m., girls in grades three to eight will hear from head field hockey coach of Wesleyan University Christine Kemp, who will share stories about her life, career path, and the opportunities that athletics provided her. Kemp was a two-sport athlete at Skidmore College.
From 5:30-7:30 p.m., each of Galway’s girls varsity sports will host a 15-minute clinic for girls in grades three to six.
Girls will have the opportunity to meet the varsity players and coaches and try each varsity sport that Galway currently offers.
