Fort Plain girls finish third in Section II Class C Tournament
SCHENECTADY — The Fort Plain girls bowling team finished third in the Section II Class C Tournament at Boulevard Bowl on Wednesday.
The Lady Hilltoppers finished with a total of 5,023 pins. Middleburgh won the Class C title with a total of 5,351, while Maple Hill (5,096 pins) was third. Schoharie (4,755) was fourth and Canajoharie (4,336) was fifth. Mayfield was seventh with a total of 3,160.
Middleburgh, which won its third straight Class C title, will represent Section II at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association small-school tournament at Strike N Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
Middleburgh’s Cameryn Shultes rolled a 694 to post the highest triple, Hoosic Valley’s Emily Cumo was second with a 693 and Hoosic Valley’s Leigha Henkel (616) was third.
Middleburgh’s Jaidyn Rose had the high single with a 298. Fort Plain’s Gabby Jenks had the second-highest single with a 246 and Fort Plain’s Emma Oldick had the third-highest single with a 234.
Chloe Hoffman led Canajoharie with a six-game total of 996. Hoffman had a 186-523 in the morning session and a 172-473 in the afternoon session. Melissa Bates had a six-game total of 990 for the Cougars, finishing with a 196-500 in the morning and a 173-473 in the afternoon. Maura DiMezza had a 146-409 in the morning and finished with a six-game total of 813, while Katelynn Kruger rolled a 161-463 in the afternoon session for Canajoharie.
In the Class B Tournament, Fonda-Fultonville finished sixth with a total of 3,775 pins. Lansingburgh won the Class B title with a total of 5,303 pins. Cohoes (5,204 pins) was second, Schalmont (4,760) was third, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (4,048) was fourth and Mechanicville (3,836) was fifth.
Glens Falls’ Jocelyn Smith had the high triple with a 656, while Lansingburgh’s Kristina Pondillo had the high game of 235.
In the Class A Tournament, Schenectady won the team title with a total of 5,647 pins. Colonie was second with 5,612 pins and Mohonasen had 5,582 pins. Guilderland’s Lauren Buess had the high triple with a 706, while Mohonasen’s Mackenzie Simmons finished with a 258 to post the high single game.
The Section II composite team includes Buess, who rolled a sectional-best 1,336 six-game block, Cumo (1,242, Henkel (1,227), Smith (1,238) and Colonie’s Marissa Henze (1,231) and Abby Fruiterman (1,212).
