FFCS freshman boys win TCITL meet

TROY — The Fonda-Fultonville boys topped the team standings at the Tri-County Indoor Track League meet at Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday.

The Braves finished with 69 points, while La Salle was second with 59 points. Scotia-Glenville (43 points) was third, South Glens Falls (39) was fourth and Broadalbin-Perth (38) was fifth. Amsterdam was ninth with 24 points.

Bennett Melita won the 1,600 meters for FFCS with a time of 5:13.0, while B-P’s Connor Couperus (5:28.2) was fifth.

Melita also won the 3,200 meters with a time of 11:29.2, while Couperus also was second in the high jump with a height of 5-0.

Michael Carpenter won the 55-meter hurdles for the Braves with a time of 10.1 seconds. He also was third in the pole vault with a height of 7-6.

Austin McSpirit won the shot put for FFCS with a throw of 38-1/2. Fonda-Fultonville’s Kyle Kretser (35-3 1/2) was second, Amsterdam’s Armani Ayala (34-2) was third and Broadalbin-Perth’s Michael Parry (30-5 3/4) was fifth.

Kretser (4-3) was sixth in the high jump for the Braves, while Tristan Cline (28-4) was fifth in the triple jump.

In the 55-meter dash, Amsterdam’s Vince Billington won with a time of 7.0 seconds, edging Fonda-Fultonville’s Landon Rose who finished with the same time.

Billington also was second in the 300 meters with a time of 40.9 seconds.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Hunter O’Dell won the triple jump with a leap of 39-5 3/4. He also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 15-11 1/4.

Broadalbin-Perth (1:55.3) was second in the 4 x 200 relay, while Fonda-Fultonville (4:29.3) was fourth in the 4 x 400 relay.

In the girls meet, Mohonasen claimed the team title with 107 points. Greenwich (93 points) was second and Stillwater (44) was third. Fonda-Fultonville was sixth with 31 points and Amsterdam was eighth with 18 points.

Fonda-Fultonville won the 4 x 400 relay as the team of Jill Sandel, Isabella Miller, Amelia Petersen and Talia Anderson posted a time of 4:51.8.

Miller (5:39.5) also was fifth in the 1,500 meters, while Petersen was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 11.1 seconds.

Sandel was second in the high jump for FFCS with a height of 4-6 and Anderson was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 11-11 3/4.

Emma Kelly was fourth in the 600 meters for the Lady Rams with a time of 2:04.0.

Ryleigh Phillips (10.3 seconds) was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles and fourth in the high jump (4-3) for Amsterdam.

Allani Aleman-Rivera was fifth in the 300 meters for Amsterdam with a time of 50.3 seconds, while Allison Demitraszek was sixth in the shot put for the Lady Rams with a throw of 19-6 3/4.

FFCS was second in the 4 x 200 relay, while Amsterdam was fifth.

The Lady Rams also were fifth in the 4 x 400 relay.
