Blue Devils win CSC wrestling title
COOPERSTOWN — Jordan Null and Ethan Randall won individual championships to lead Dolgeville-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to victory at the Center State Conference wrestling tournament Saturday at Cooperstown High School.
The Blue Devils edged Mount Markham 158 1/2-155 to win the CSC championship, while Canastota placed third with 146 1/2 points.
Null won the 160 pound championship with a 15-0 technical fall over Morgan Larkin of Sherburne-Earlville.
Randall won the 170 pound championship, pinning Adirondack’s Colin White in 2:15 in the title match.
Philip Keeler (152), Kyle Getman (182) and Jon Costanza (220) were runners-up in their respective weight classes.
Oscar Lozada placed third for the Blue Devils at 138, while Nathen Randall (106), Treay Jaquay (126), Andrew Doolittle (132), Patrick Murphy (22) and John Monk (285) finished fourth and Isaiah Rathbun (113) and Bradley Lamphere (132) placed fifth in the tournament.
Coach Ken Baker Classic
TAMARAC — The Galway Golden Eagles placed 10th at the Coach Ken Baker Classic wrestling tournament Saturday at Tamarac High School.
Adam Henderson finished second in the 113-pound bracket, falling to Tamarac’s Torin Bishop in the title match by a 4-0 decision.
Brandon Grupe placed third at 126 after falling to Red Hook’s Matt Morris in the semifinals, he recovered to pin Mechanicville/Stillwater’s Sam Pisculli in 35 seconds in the consolation final.
Russell Cook finished in the semifinal of the consolation round in the 285 pound bracket.
Tamarac won the team title over Averill Park 192 1/2-164, while Whitehall/Fort Ann was third with 154 1/2 points.
