Relyea leads Mayfield to another win

BENSON — The Mayfield girls nordic ski team won the team title Friday at the Mayfield Invitational at Lapland Lake.

The Lady Panthers finished with 11 points, while Queensbury was second with 32 points. Scotia-Glenville was third with 37 points, Lake George was fourth with 59 points and Guilderland was fifth with 68 points. Johnstown was sixth with 75 points.

Mayfield’s Madison Relyea won the 7.5k girls skate race with a time of 26:06.5.

Hadley-Luzerne’s Katrin Schreiner (27:13.9) was second, Mayfield’s Fianna Halloran (27:43.1) was third, Glens Falls’ Katie Culliton (28:17.8) was fourth and Johnsburg’s Avery Bayse (28:42.4) was fifth.

Delaney LaFontaine (29:57.1) was seventh for the Lady Panthers.

Molly Sweeney was Johnstown’s top finisher, placing 18th with a time of 33:42.9.

Carolyn Fitzpatrick (41:38.0) was 27th for the Lady Bills, while Ally Queeney (50:05.4) was 30th.

In the boys meet, Queensbury claimed the team title with 12 points. Shenendehowa was second with 33 points, Lake George was third with 34, Glens Falls was fourth with 36 and Johnsburg was fifth with 40 points.

Mayfield was sixth with 56 points and Johnstown fielded an incomplete team.

Queensbury’s Nick Logan won the 10k boys skate race with a time of 29:50.0. Glens Falls’ Sam Bordeau (30:09.6) was second, Lake George’s Paul Lindsay (30:17.3) was third, Queensbury’s Teddy Borgos (30:51.7) was fourth and Shenendehowa’s Thomas Wiedmann (30:54.8) was fifth.

Mayfield’s Shawn Allen was the top local finisher, placing 12th with a time of 33:12.4.

Brice Williams (35:29.5) was 17th for the Panthers, while Dylan Merk (38;38.4) was 27th.

Trey Naselli led Johnstown, placing 20th with a time of 36:58.2.

Gus Fagan (43:16.9) was 32rd for the Sir Bills.
