NORTHVILLE — In its final home game of the season, Northville shook off a slow start before rolling to a 59-37 victory over Loudonville Christian on Tuesday in a non-league boys basketball game Wednesday.

“It took us a little while to get going, but once we did, we played well,” Northville coach John Karbowski said.

The win was the 100th career victory for Karbowski.

Daniel VanNostrand had 25 points to lead Northville, while Wyatt Sira had 14 points. Jason Ellsworth finished with 10 points and 18 rebounds for the Lady Falcons.

After scoring the first points of the game on a basket by VanNostrand, Northville fell behind 8-2 after 3-pointers by the Eagles’ Dylan Foland and Elijah Woods, and a basket by Patrick Marella.

VanNostrand scored six straight points for the Falcons to even the game at 8-8 before Foland hit a 3-pointer to give Loudonville Christian an 11-8 advantage.

It turned out to be the Eagles’ final lead of the game as Northville closed the first quarter with a 9-0 run to take a 17-11 lead.

The Falcons carried their momentum into the second quarter, opening with a 9-2 surge to open up a 26-13 lead.

Northville held the Eagles to just six points in the frame to take a 33-17 halftime lead.

VanNostrand finished the first half with 14 points, while Sira had eight of his 10 first-half points in the second quarter. Ellsworth added eight first-half points for Northville.

“We moved the ball very well,” Karbowski said. “It’s something we’ve been working on and it’s good to see it work for us.”

Northville continued to pull away in the third quarter, opening the second half with an 18-5 run to grab a 51-22 lead.

VanNostrand had eight points in the flurry while Sira had four as the Falcons led 51-25 after three quarters.

Loudonville Christian got no closer than 18 points in the final quarter as Northville notched its fifth straight win and eighth in its last nine contests.

“Loudonville Christian is a team we could see moving forward, so it’s good to see where we stand,” Karbowski said. “We’re going to be tested down the stretch, which is what you want going into sectionals.”

Northville (11-4 overall) is off until Jan. 29 when it is slated to travel to Mayfield for a Western Athletic Conference contest.

The Falcons honored seniors Levi Morgan, Jacob Halloran and Ellsworth before the game.
