Johnstown boys place third at alpine meet
GREENWICH — The Johnstown boys alpine ski team placed third in the Saratoga Springs Invitational at Willard Mountain on Monday.
Shenendehowa won the team title with 20 points, Saratoga Springs was second with 30 points and Johnstown was third with 40 points. Broadalbin-Perth fielded an incomplete team.
Schuylerville’s Mike Wright won the boys varsity race with a time of 33.63 seconds.
Johnstown’s Colin Cotter (33.97 seconds) was second,Saratoga Springs’ Matthew Moeckel (34.64) was third, Shenendehowa’s Braden Kruk (34.77) was fourth and Ballston Spa’s Ethan Huff (34.80) was fifth.
Ben Krempa (36.60) was ninth for Johnstown, Jakob Hanna (45.78) was 29th, Hayden Zelich (48.39) was 35th and Aiden Greene (1:02.66) was 51st. Carter Cheney and Jacob Martelle both failed to finish for the Sir Bills.
Luke Barnhart was Broadalbin-Perth’s top finisher, placing 37th with a time of 49.08 seconds. Nicholas Georgelos (1:04.69) was 53rd for the Patriots.
In the girls meet, Ballston Spa won the team title with 22 points. Shenendehowa (26 points) was second, Saratoga Springs (28) was third, Queensbury (52) was fourth and Glens Falls (53) was fifth.
Johnstown was seventh with 53 points and Broadalbin-Perth was 11th with 161 points.
Ballston Spa’s Claire Felton won the varsity girls race with a time of 35.15 seconds.
Shenendehowa’s Micaela Leonard (36.43 seconds) was second, Queensbury’s Meredith Montgomery (36.57) was third, Taconic Hills’ Clare Howard (37.81) was fourth and Shenendehowa’s Allison Bach (38.37) was fifth.
Taryn Ringer was Johnstown’s top finisher, placing 10th with a time of 39.82 seconds. Petra Conyne (43.21) was 21st and Cole Krempa (47.70) was 32nd for the Lady Bills. Robin Kruggel and Emily Frank both failed to finish their runs for Johnstown.
Hannah Nolett was B-P’s top finisher, placing 40th with a time of 51.24. Chase Smith (53.84) was 42nd for the Lady Patriots.
Jenna Smith was disqualified for Broadalbin-Perth and Shannon Vogel did not finish her run.
