Bowling association hosts youth tourney
GLOVERSVILLE — The Fulton County Regional USBC hosted a youth bowling tournament Dec. 29 at Starlite Lanes.
There were two shifts at noon and 3 p.m. It was a handicap tournament with three divisions — ages 8-12, ages 13-16 and age 17-and-older. The tournament was open to any sanctioned bowler that bowls in the junior program at Starlite or Arterial Lanes. Or on any school team in Fulton County.
Dylan Scott won the age 8 to 12 division, while a handicap total of 745, while Devin Butcher was second with a total of 740.
In the age 13-to-17 division, Shane VanNostrand was first with a handicap total of 788. A.J. Dorman (762) was second, Brianna Subik (751) was third, Logan VanNostrand (718) was fourth, Mariah Morrison (713) was fifth and Zach Becker (699) was sixth. Riley Griffiths had the high game of the tournament, using 11 straight strikes to finish with a 279.
Mark Sgambato won the age 17-and-older division.
Trophies and gift cards to a local bowling center were awarded to the winners in each division.
There also was a gift basket door prize pulled by random for each shift. The noon door prize winner was Madison Dann and the 3 p.m. winner was Mariah Morrison. Each were drawn by spectators.
“Thank you to Erica Morrison and Karen Marshall for putting those together for us and to all that reached out to them to donate items to them,” association President Terry Murray said in a news release. “Thank you to all that assisted in making our first association youth tournament a success.”
