Wells wins league opener against Johnsburg/Minerva

WELLS — Playing on their home court for the first time this season, the Wells Indians broke out to a 37-14 halftime advantage and rolled to a 68-46 victory over Johnsburg/Minerva in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference action Thursday at Wells Central School.

Byron Stuart led nine scorers for Wells with 18 points, while Matt Richards finished with 12 points and Tyler Bolebruch chipped in with 11.

Anthony Galle led Johnsburg/Minerva with 25 points, while Caleb Hughey finished with 12 points.

The Indians (1-4 overall, 1-0 MVAC) will travel to play Indian Lake/Long Lake tonight before returning home to play Newcomb on Tuesday.
