Galway girls open season with victory

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Galway jumped out to a nine-point first quarter lead and held off a fourth-quarter surge to defeat host Saratoga Central Catholic 43-40 Friday in the opening round of the Saratoga Central Catholic Girls Basketball Tournament.

Ryan Ripepi led Galway with 13 points, while Morgan Drouin connected for 10.

Ashley Upson led Spa Catholic with 12 points.

The Lady Golden Eagles will play Warrensburg in the championship game today.

Warrensburg advanced with a 65-33 victory over Loudonville Christian.

Abigail Ranous led Warrensburg with 19 points, while Hope Boland chipped in with 15.

Skyler Househoulder and Larissa Paddock delivered eight points apiece for Loudonville Christian.
