Girls Soccer Roundup: Lady Dragons get past Amsterdam, 5-1

GLOVERSVILLE — Taylor Mee finished with four goals and an assist to lead Gloversville to a 5-1 victory over Amsterdam in a Foothills Council South Division girls soccer contest at Gloversville High School on Friday.

Rachel Lopez also scored for the Lady Dragons, while Sydney Loux, Helen Lopez, Melia Stoller and Michaela Ponticello each had an assist.

Lydia Iorio scored the lone goal for Amsterdam.

Meredith Dennie finished with 11 saves for Gloversville (7-4-1 overall, 5-3-1 Foothills), which outshot the Lady Rams by a 28-12 margin.

Karen Troche-Esteva made 20 saves for Amsterdam (2-9 overall, 1-8 Foothills).

On Sept. 26, Gloversville dropped a 7-3 decision at South Glens Falls.

Vanessa Jorgensen scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Natalie Barden had a goal and an assist. Hailey Breen, Holly Page, Vivian Picerno and Maddy Walter also scored for South Glens Falls.

Loux, Mee and Ponticello scored for the Lady Dragons, while Dennie made five saves.

Gloversville is scheduled to travel to Schuylerville on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. contest, while Amsterdam is slated to host Columbia at 4:30 p.m.

Queensbury 12, Glens Falls 1

QUEENSBURY — A 12-goal first half lifted Queensbury to a Foothills Council North Division victory over Glens Falls.

Izzy Dennison and Brigid Duffy each had three goals and two assists for the Spartans, while Julia Keshmiri had two goals and an assist. Sarah Sassman scored twice for Queensbury, Sophia Keshmiri had a goal and two assists, and Allie Basilia had a goal and an assist. Christina Cummings added two assists for the Spartans.

Brena Lewis scored the lone goal for Glens Falls.

Kaileigh Hunt made five saves for Queensbury, while Robin Gorton made nine saves for Glens Falls.

South Glens Falls 2, Hudson Falls 0

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Zoe Lanfear and Vivian Picerno scored to lead South Glens Falls to a Foothills Council North Division victory over Hudson Falls.

Deme Kellogg and Molly Rafferty each made one save to share the shutout win in goal for the Bulldogs.

Mikayla Varney made 12 stops for Hudson Falls.


Northville 4, Canajoharie 1

NORTHVILLE — Madison Whittaker finished with a goal and an assist to lead Northville to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Canajoharie.

Brytney Moore, Kaytelenn VanHeusen and Grace Forsey also scored for the Lady Falcons. Moore now has 98 career goals.

Giana Murphy scored the lone goal for Canajoharie on an assist from Kylee Rickard.

Emily Shepard made six saves for Northville (10-3 overall, 7-1 WAC), which won its sixth straight game.

Canajoharie (5-7 overall, 4-3 WAC) is scheduled to host Middleburgh on Monday at 4:15 p.m.

Northville is slated to host Mekeel Christian Academy on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

Mayfield 2, OESJ 2

MAYFIELD — Kelsey Meca scored both goals to help Mayfield earn a tie with Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Western Athletic Conference contest.

Delaney LaFontaine and Adrianna Yuret each had an assist for the Lady Panthers (3-8-1 overall, 3-4-1 WAC).

Abby Johnson scored for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (7-1-2 overall, 5-0-1 WAC).

Duanesburg 2, Fonda-Fultonville 1

FONDA — Olivia Harris had a goal and an assist to lead Duanesburg to a WAC victory over Fonda-Fultonville at John G. Boshart Field.

Sam Kornbrek also scored for the Eagles.

Sierra Rose scored the lone goal for the Lady Braves on an assist from Jill Sandel.

Allison O’Hanlon made nine saves for Duanesburg (6-3 WAC), while Emma Crahan finished with 12 stops for Fonda-Fultonville (3-10 overall, 3-6 WAC).

Schoharie 6, Galway 0

SCHOHARIE — Katelyn Krohn and Megan Krohn each scored twice to lead Schoharie to a WAC victory over Galway.

Jacquelyn Sullivan and Morgan Phelan also scored for the Indians.

Maddy Bland made one save to post the shutout in goal for Schoharie.

Hannah French combined to make 18 saves for Galway (3-9-1 overall, 2-5-1 WAC).

Fort Plain 1, Middleburgh 0

FORT PLAIN — Jenna Conley scored the game’s only goal to lift Fort Plain to a WAC victory over Middleburgh.

It was the third win in the last four games for the Lady Hilltoppers, who improved to 3-6-2 overall and 1-4-2 in WAC play.

Fort Plain is scheduled to host Canajoharie on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

Center State Conference

Dolgeville 6, Utica Academy of Science 0

HERKIMER — Rylee Lamphere netted three goals and had an assist to lead Dolgeville to a victory over Utica Academy of Science on Thursday at Herkimer College.

Anna Davies and Gabby Kenyon each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils, while Lexy Morse also scored. Nataley Caponera added an assist for Dolgeville (7-3-1 overall), which outshot Utica Academy of Science by a 39-1 margin.

Ryanne Williams and Dakota Jeffers didn’t need to make a save to share the shutout in goal.

Gresa Deliu made 19 saves for Utica Academy of Science.
