Girls Soccer Roundup: Engle powers OESJ to victory

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Ashley Engle scored all three goals to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Friday.

Madisyn Schell and Julie Hickey each had an assist for the Lady Wolves, who outshot the Bulldogs by a 12-0 margin.

Ashlee Shelmandine didn’t need to make a save to post the shutout in goal for OESJ (2-1-1 overall, 1-0 WAC).

Ashlyn Hanley made eight saves for Berne-Knox-Westerlo (0-2-1 WAC).

OESJ is slated to travel to Fort Plain on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Northville 5, Duanesburg 1

DUANESBURG — Brytney Moore finished with three goals to power Northville to a WAC victory over Duanesburg.

Kaytelynn VanHeusen and Morgan Mackey each had a goal and an assist for the Lady Falcons (4-2 overall, 2-0 WAC), while Madison Whittaker added an assist.

Duanesburg’s lone goal came as a result of an own goal by Northville, which outshot the Eagles by a 14-3 margin.

Mayfield 6, Fonda-Fultonville 1

FONDA — Lindsey Hampton and Kelsey Meca each had two goals to lead Mayfield to a WAC victory over Fonda-Fultonville.

Jillian Botch and Emily Senese also scored for the Lady Panthers, while Fianna Halloran and Tatiana Bjelica each had an assist.

Stella Williams scored the lone goal for Fonda-Fultonville on an assist from Sierra Rose.

Kat Knecht finished with four saves for Mayfield (2-4 overall, 2-0 WAC)

Emma Crahan made six saves for FFCS (1-5 overall, 1-2 WAC).

Schoharie 8, Fort Plain 0

SCHOHARIE — Katie Krohn finished with four goals and an assist to lead Schoharie to a WAC victory over Fort Plain.

Megan Krohn netted two goals for the Indians.

Shawna Bailey and Haley Drinon also scored for Schoharie (3-0 WAC).

Jenna Reese made 10 saves for Fort Plain (0-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 WAC).

Mekeel Christian 1, Middleburgh 0

MIDDLEBURGH — Tehillah Mbango scored the game’s only goal to lift Mekeel Christian Academy to a WAC victory over Middleburgh.

Cameryn Shultes made 10 saves for Middleburgh.


Waterford-Halfmoon 4, Galway 1

WATERFORD — Sophia Belonga scored twice to lead Waterford-Halfmoon to a non-league victory over Galway.

Matisen Roy and Cassidy McClement also scored for the Fordians.

Izzy Mancini scored the lone goal for Galway (0-4 overall).

Sierra Atwood made four saves for Waterford-Halfmoon.

Hannah French made seven saves for Galway, while Kimberly Martin and Ruth Reichard each had four saves.
