Johnstown’s Gagliardo earns all-state honors

Johnstown’s Charlie Gagliardo was among those recently named to the 2019 New York State Sportswriters Association Boys lacrosse all-state team.

Gagliardo, a junior defender, was named sixth-team all-state in the small-school division after helping the Sir Bills reach the Section II Class D title game. Gagliardo also was named a first-team Wasaren League all-star.

Glens Falls’ Hogan Fox (third team) and Schuylerville’s Justin Carte (fifth team) were the only other Section II players named to the small-school all-state team.

Niskayuna’s Griffin King (second team) and Nick Fratterigo (third team) were named to the large-school all-state team, along with Bethlehem’s Liam Ferris (third team), Ben Reilly (fifth team) and Declan Ferris (sixth team).

St. Anthony’s Brennan O’Neill was named the large school Player of the Year, while Xavier Arline was named the small school Player of the Year.
