Area riders post solid showings at Royal

CAROGA LAKE — A total of 10 area riders were among the winners Friday night during Monster Energy Supercross competition at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Fonda’s Carter Petersen picked up wins in three different classes, winning the 122-125 two-stroke, 122-250 amateur and schoolboy classes.

Fonda’s Tyler Blowers, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigliato, Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich, Fonda’s Timothy Wilmot, Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell, Johnstown’s Tom Hogan, Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey and Northville’s Eric Junquera.

Blowers won the 122-250 expert class and was second in the 122-open expert class.

Attigliato won the 122-open amateur class.

Zelich won the 122-open novice class and was third in the 122-125 two-stroke class.

Wilmot won the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old class, Cornell won the mini quad 50cc class.

Hogan won the plus-40 amateur class and Ashbey won the quad novice class.

Miller won the mini 60 7- to 11-year-old class and was third in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old class.

In addition to Petersen, Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts and Athens’ Davey Sterritt also posted wins in multiple classes Friday.

Betts won the mini 80 12- to 15-year-old class and the open mini 10- to 16-year-old classes, while Sterritt won the 122-open expert and plus-30 expert classes.

Other winners included Schenectady’s Ryan Tietz (122-250 novice), Ghent’s Sebastian Witherell (50cc 4-6), East Berne’s Finn Smith (50cc 7-8), Gansevoort’s Mason King (mini 80 9-11), Esperance’s Rian Hynes (mini quad 51-90cc), Troy’s Pat Mason (pit bike), Ghent’s Earl Lyons (plus-30 amateur), Ballston Spa’s Cody Milanese (quad schoolboy) and Holland Patent’s Seth Reese (quad amateur).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was second in the schoolboy class, while Gloversville’s Nicholas Hughes was fifth.

Buyce also was was fifth in the 122-125 two-stroke class.

Nelliston’s Tyler Dygert was second in the 122-250 novice class, while Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was fifth.

Johnstown’s Adryan Pelosi was third in the 122-open expert class, while Pattersonville’s Kyle Kiefner was fifth in the 122-open novice class.

Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was fourth in the 50cc 4- to 6-year-old class, while Dolgeville’s Jim George was second in the mini 60 7- to 11-year-old class.

In the 50cc 7-and-8-year-old class, Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was third and Gloversville’s Evan Darling was fourth.

In the mini 80 12- to 15-year-old class, Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was third and Galway’s Trevor Patterson was fourth.

Pattersonville’s Marc Hartje was third in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class. Melita was fourth and Patterson was fifth.

Fonda’s Tyler Miller was third in the mini quad 50cc class and St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson was fifth.

In the mini quad 51-90cc class, Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was second and Mayfield’s Chloe VanNostrand was fourth.

Mayfield’s Jordan Miller was fourth in the pit bike class and second in the quad schoolboy class.

Gloversville’s Tyler Covey was third in the quad schoolboy class, while Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto was second in the quad amateur class.

Gloversville’s Sean Dufel was second in the plus-30 amateur class, Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was third and Mayfield’s Nick Cross was fifth.

St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson was second in the plus-30 expert class, while Johnstown’s Michael Ward was third.

Gloversville’s Keith Orr was third in the plus-40 amateur class and Hagaman’s Joe Kulewicz was fifth.

Northville’s Troy Palmer was third in the quad novice class and Broadalbin’s Eithen Salvione was fourth.

Royal Mountain will wrap up its season Wednesday with its final Monster Energy Supercross event.
