Mohawks split doubleheader with Outlaws

AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Mohawks and Oneonta Outlaws split their Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League doubleheader Friday at Rao Family Stadium at Shuttleworth Park.

The Mohawks won the opener 6-3, while Oneonta came back to win the nightcap, 5-1.

In the opening game, Amsterdam picked up five runs off Oneonta starter and former Johnstown High School standout Ben Wager in the fourth inning with a grand slam by Matt Padre followed by a solo homer from Johnny Decker.

The Outlaws put up two runs in the first inning of the second game and held on for the 5-1 win.
