Mohawks roll past Watertown, 12-0

AMSTERDAM — Three pitchers combined on a two-hitter as Amsterdam cruised to a 12-0 victory over Watertown in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Tuesday at Rao Family Stadium at Shuttleworth Park.

Travis Lane earned the win on the mound for the Mohawks, striking out six, walking one and allowing one hit and no runs in six innings. Brendan Disonell pitched two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit, striking out five and walking none. Dylan Smith closed out the game for Amsterdam, striking out two, walking none and allowing no hits in the top of the ninth.

The Amsterdam pitchers were backed by plenty of offense as the Mohawks’ hitters pounded out 16 hits in the game.

Dalton Reese was 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI and a run scored, while Geordon Blanton was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

DJ Poteet, Sam Zayicek and Landon Jordan all had two singles for Amsterdam. Zayicek also had three RBIs, while Jordan scored two runs.

Matt Padre had a single, three RBIs and scored a run for the Mohawks.

Drake Smith had a double and Khale Showers added a single for the Rapids’ only hits of the game.

Drew Mead took the loss for Watertown, allowing 12 hits and nine runs, striking out one and walking one in 5 1/3 innings.

Amsterdam (23-6 overall) is scheduled to host Saugerties today at 6:35 p.m.

Watertown (12-17 overall) is slated to travel to Utica today for a 6:35 p.m. contest.
