Hartigan, Costas power Mohawks past Stallions, 4-1
AMSTERDAM — Mitch Hartigan and Max Costes had solo home runs to help Amsterdam to a 4-1 victory over Saugerties in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest at Rao Family Stadium at Shuttleworth Park on Wednesday.
Hartigan, who also had a double, finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Costes had an RBI and scored twice.
Michael Turconi had two singles and an RBI for the Mohawks, while DJ Poteet and Matt Padre each had doubles.
Dalton Reese finished with a single and an RBI for Amsterdam and Kevin Jimenez added a single.
Eric Cerantola earned the win on the mound for Amsterdam, striking out nine, walking three, and allowing three hits and no runs in four innings. Will Gambino struck out one, walked two, allowed one run and one hit in two innings of relief for the Mohawks. Ryan Cardona earned the save, striking out seven, allowing one hit, walking none and allowing no runs over the final three innings.
Noah Ledford and Nolen Hester each had doubles for Saugerties, while Noberto Navarro, Fritz Genther and Riley Swenson all had singles.
Amsterdam (24-6 overall) is scheduled to travel to Albany today for a 5:05 p.m. contest. The Mohawks return home Friday to host Oneonta in a doubleheader, with the first game set to begin at 5 p.m.
Saugerties (16-13 overall) is off today before hosting Albany on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
