Nine area riders post wins at Royal

CAROGA LAKE — With Mother Nature claiming wins in two of the first three weeks of the season, Monster Energy Drink Supercross competition returned to Royal Mountain Ski Area on Wednesday.

A total of nine area riders picked up win in their respective classes.

Fonda’s Tyler Blowers, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigiato, Johnstown’s Brandon Handy, Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, Gloverville’s Shane Graham, Fultonville’s Jesse Richardson, St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson, Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey and Mayfield’s Jordan Miller all posted wins.

Blowers won all four of his motos to win the 122-250 expert and 122-open expert classes, while Attigiato was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the 122-open amateur class.

Maxx Miller was second in both motos to win the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old class. He also finished second in the mini 60 7- to 11-year-old class.

Ashbey won both motos to claim the quad novice class.

Handy won both motos to pick up the win in the 122-open novice class. He also was second in the 122-250 novice class.

Graham won both motos to win the pit bike class, Richardson won both motos to win the plus-30 amateur class and Wilson won both motos to win the plus-30 expert class. Jordan Miller swept both motos to win the quad schoolboy class.

In addition to Blowers, two other riders won two classes Wednesday.

Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts won the mini 80 12- to 15-year-old and open mini 10- to 16-year-old classes.

Stillwater’s Tim Flanagan won the 122-250 amateur and schoolboy classes.

In the quad classes, New Berlin’s Lucas Etzl (mini quad 50), East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (mini quad 51-90), Queensbury’s Mason St. John Lemery (quad amateur) and Ticonderoga’s Gavin Fleury (quad expert) all notched wins.

Other winners included Scotia’s Brett Unser (122-125 two-stroke), Saratoga Springs’ Isaac Lawyer (122-250 novice), Ghent’s Sebastian Witherell (50cc 4-6), East Berne’s Finn Smith (50cc 7-8), Scotia’s Brady Rodecker (mini 60 7-11), Queensbury’s Brydon Broe (mini 80 9-11) and South Glens Falls’ Ron Nolin (plus-40 amateur).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

In the mini quad 50cc class, Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell was second and Fonda’s Tyler Miller was fifth.

Broadalbin’s Josh Deuel was fifth in the quad amateur class, while Gloversville’s Tyler Covey was second in the quad schoolboy class.

In the plus-40 amateur class, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was third, Tom Hogan was fourth and Hagaman’s Tom Hogan was fifth.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class, while Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was fifth. Buyce also was fifth in the schoolboy class.

Amsterdam’s Kyle Kilburn was third in the 122-250 amateur class and fourth in the 122-open amateur class.

In the 122-250 novice class, Nelliston’s Tyler Dygert was fourth and Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was fifth.

Pattersonville’s Kyle Kiefner was fifth in the 122-open novice class, while Fonda’s Timothy Wilmot was second in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old class.

Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was second in the 50cc 4- to 6-year-old class, while Gloversville Evan Darling was third in the 50cc 7-and-8-year-old class.

Dolgeville’s Jim George was third in the mini 60 7- to 11-year-old class, while Pattersonville’s Eason Baker was fifth.

In the plus-30 amateur class, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was second, Gloversville’s Sean Dufel was third and Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf.

Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-30 expert class, while Fultonville’s T.J. Chicoski was third.

Gloversville’s Brent Muhlberger Jr. was third in the pit bike class, while Broadalbin’s Shane Porter was fourth.

Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was fifth in the mini 80 12- to 15-year-old class. He also was fifth in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class.

Fonda’s Charles Rose was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class.

A field of 148 riders competed Wednesday.
