Mohawks lose to Mohawk Valley, 6-5

LITTLE FALLS — Owen Weslinger hit a two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning and scored on an error to lead Mohawk Valley to a 6-5 victory over Amsterdam in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.

It was the first loss of the season for the Mohawks.

Weslinger finished 2-for-5 with a run scored for the DiamondDawgs, while Kyle Johnson was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.

Nick Camillo had a home run, two RBIs and a run scored for Mohawk Valley, while Joseph Carpenter was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville graduate Dylan Klock had a single for Mohawk Valley, while Fort Plain graduate Drew Fureno also played for the DiamondDawgs.

Michael Turconi was 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead Amsterdam, Sam Zayicek had a double, single, a run scored and an RBI, while JD Mundy added a double.

The teams are scheduled to meet again tonight at Shuttleworth Park at 6:45 p.m.
