Mohawks get past Stallions, 4-2

SAUGERTIES — One day after dropping a 15-inning decision to Albany, the Amsterdam Mohawks rebounded with a 4-2 victory over Saugerties in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest at Cantine Veterans Memorial Field on Friday.

JD Mundy was 4-for-4 with an RBI and a double for the Mohawks, while Julio Cortez and Dalton Reese each had two singles. Michael Turconi had a double and scored two runs for Amsterdam, which had 14 hits in the game.

David Harrison earned the win on the mound for Amsterdam, striking out five, walking none and allowing one hit in five innings. Tyler Stafflinger struck out three, walked one, allowed one run and two hits in two innings, while Dylan Smith earned the save, striking out two, walking two, allowing one run and no hits in two innings.

Tyler Kelder had a double and scored a run for Saugerties, while Nolen Hester and Dillon Lifrieri each had singles.

Amsterdam (7-2 overall) is scheduled to host Utica today at 6:45 p.m., while Saugerties (5-6 overall) is slated to travel to Elmira for a 7:05 p.m. contest.
