JHS fundraiser slated for June 19

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown citizens are invited to the Johnstown High School Auditorium on June 19 at 6:30 p.m. for the 1,000 Citizens to Save Our Sports event.

Now in existence for a number of years, Purple and Gold is a booster club comprised of community members who strive to supplement the athletic programs and offerings that are available to all Johnstown students.

Due to the first failed school budget vote and the subsequent cut of athletics, Purple and Gold is now looking to not only supplement athletics, but to fully fund each sport. The task at hand is to raise $311,000 so athletics can be reinstated for every student who wishes to participate.

Without help from the community, the sports booster may not be able to meet its daunting goal. Purple and Gold is asking community members to attend the 1,000 Citizens to Save our Sports event and commit to a minimum donation of $200 to the Johnstown athletics program.

Donations will go a long way toward ensuring that Johnstown’s strong athletic traditions continue and today’s children are given the opportunities that they deserve.

The JHS auditorium doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for community members to participate in this fundraising event and rally together to support students.
