Costes leads Mohawks to 10-7 victory over ’Dawgs

AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Mohawks turned up the power, connecting for five home runs in a 10-7 victory over the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League action Tuesday night at Rao Family Stadium at Shuttleworth Park.

The Mohawks’ Maxwell Costes led the way with a pair of home runs, including a fourth-inning grand slam and a solo shot in the sixth.

J.D. Mundy added a two-run homer in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate for for Amsterdam, while Rook Ellington and Paul Franzoni delivered back-to-back homers in the seventh inning. Franzoni added a double and a single to his credit.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville graduate Dylan Klock singled and scored twice for the DiamondDawgs (7-6).

The PGCBL East Division leading Mohawks (10-2) hit the road tonight to face the Glens Falls Dragons. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at East Field.
