Late rally lifts Mayfield past Fonda-Fultonville

GLOVERSVILLE — Kelsey Meca hit a two-out, bases-loaded, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Mayfield to a 4-3 Western Athletic Conference victory over Fonda-Fultonville on Sunday in a game played at Gloversville High School.

Meca’s hit plated Lindsey Hampton and Taryn LaFontaine to give the Lady Panthers, who scored three of their four runs in the seventh, the win.

Jillian Botch earned the win in the circle, striking out 15 and allowing three hits in seven innings.

Hampton and Bri Hubiak each had two singles for Mayfield (10-5 overall, 7-1 WAC), while Emily Senese had a single and an RBI.

LaFontaine and Lila King each had singles for the Lady Panthers.

Shelby Crahan had a double single and scored a run for Fonda-Fultonville (7-7 overall, 4-2 WAC), while Marilyn Whitcavitch added a single.

Mayfield is scheduled to host Berne-Knox-Westerlo at the Robin’s Nest today at 4 p.m. before facing Galway at 7 p.m. at Gloversville High School.

Fonda-Fultonville is scheduled to travel Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Amsterdam 2, Queensbury 1

QUEENSBURY — Sydney Szczepanik pitched a complete game three-hitter to lead Amsterdam to a Foothills Council victory over Queensbury on Sunday.

Jordyn Wozniak singled home the deciding run in the third inning for the Lady Rams, who earned their fifth consecutive victory.

Szczepanik had a triple and scored a run on a sacrifice fly by Nicole DeRose in the second inning.

Megan LaMont, Gaby Maroto and Kyrsten Orsini all singled for Amsterdam (9-5 overall, 6-3 Foothills Council)

Kenzie Kinney, Fiona Hunt and Emma Sponzo all had singles for Queensbury (5-9 overall, 5-6 Foothills).
