H.S. Softball Roundup: Botch pitches Mayfield to WAC victory over Duanesburg

DUANESBURG — Jillian Botch pitched a four-hitter to lead Mayfield to a 10-4 victory over Duanesburg in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Friday.

Botch struck out 12 in seven innings to earn the win in the circle. She also had a single and scored two runs for the Lady Panthers.

Kelsey Meca had a double, two singles, three RBIs and scored two runs for Mayfield, Taryn LaFontaine had two singles and scored two runs, and Lila King had two singles, two RBIs and scored a run. Katie LaGrange and Shelby VanNostrand each singles and two RBIs for the Lady Panthers.

Laura Walter had a single and two RBIs for Duanesburg, while Tori Passonno had a double. Victoria Silva and Kayla Benway each had singles for the Eagles.

Mayfield (9-5 overall, 6-1 WAC) is scheduled to travel to Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Sunday for a noon contest before facing Fonda-Fultonville at Gloversville High School at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

FONDA — Fonda-Fultonville scored two or more runs in four of five innings on its way to a WAC victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Friday.

Reagan Smith had a double for BKW, while Caitlyn Bianchi, Ashlee Stevens, Miranda Grzywaczewski, Morgan Ryerson, Jaida Wesley and Kaelyn LoBalbo all had singles.

FFCS (7-6 overall, 4-1 WAC) is slated to face Mayfield on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Gloversville High School.

SCHOHARIE –Abby Johnson had two singles and scored two runs to help Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Schoharie on Thursday.

Michaela Stockwell earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hits, striking out 15 and walking one in seven innings.

Stockwell also had a double, scored two runs and had two RBIs for FP-OESJ, while Bella Page had a single and two RBIs.

Alexis Mumford had a single and an RBI for Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (8-3 overall, 7-2 WAC).

Caity Schleifer had the lone hit for Schoharie.

DOLGEVILLE — Isabella Nichols had a home run, double, single and scored two runs to lead Dolgeville to a victory over Remsen on Friday.

Emily Frasier finished with a single, double and triple for the Blue Devils, Bre Potts had a triple and a single, and Madison Gorinshek had two singles. Lacey Carpenter added a double for Dolgeville (4-7 overall).

Railey Ehart had two singles and a double to lead Remsen. Madelyn McCormack had a double and a single, and Hailey Jewett added a double. Katelyn Griffith and Emma Skermont each had two singles for the Rams.
