H.S. Baseball Roundup: South Glens Falls cruises past Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN — Alex Smith and Justin Nesbitt each had home runs to power South Glens Falls to a 14-0 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council baseball game at Johnstown High School on Wednesday.

Nesbitt finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Connor Bovair and Dylan Schrammel each had doubles for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-4 overall and 8-4 in Foothills play.

Johnstown (1-12 overall, 1-10 Foothills) is scheduled to travel to Amsterdam on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Scotia-Glenville 14, Gloversville 0

AMSTERDAM — Nick Marola was 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scores to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council victory over Gloversville at Shuttleworth Park.

Addison Schaub was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Tartans, while Cole Holstein and Patrick Cremo each had two singles. Tyler Cannoe and Justin O’Neil each had doubles and an RBI for Scotia-Glenville.

Ryan Rockwell and Schaub combined on a three-hitter for the Tartans. Rockwell struck out four, walked three and allowed one hit in five innings. Schaub had four strike outs, no walks and two hits for Scotia-Glenville.

Raymond Strauser had two singles for Gloversville, while Julian Deumaga added a single.

AMSTERDAM — Francisco Rodriguez-Santana had three doubles, four RBIs and scored four runs to lead Amsterdam to a Foothills Council victory over Broadalbin-Perth at Shuttleworth Park.

Jake Greco was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Rams, who won their 14th straight game.

Matt Murphy was 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs for Amsterdam, which pounded out 21 hits.

Peyton Ausfeld had two singles, a double and three runs scored for the Rams, Jeffrey Brennan had a single, double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Mike Rocas had a single, double, RBI and two runs scored.

Jack Marsden went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Broadalbin-Perth, while Brodryk Benton added a double.

FORT PLAIN — Troy Butler pitched a one-hitter to lead Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Butler struck out 12 in seven innings for the Hilltoppers, who improved to 12-0 overall and 11-0 in WAC play. Butler also had two singles and scored a run.

Brady Fureno, Nate Buley and Bryce Thibodeau all had two singles for Fort Plain, Taylor Gifford had a two-run single, and Zack Reid had a double, triple, RBI and scored a run.

Jack Brundage had a single for OESJ’s lone hit.

The win was the 789th for Fort Plain coach Craig Phillips.

FONDA — Derek Duval pitched a two-hitter to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a WAC victory over Galway.

The Braves scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Brady Myles, Cade Kearns and Dylan Hamlen all had singles and an RBI for Fonda-Fultonville (10-5 overall, 9-3 WAC), while Myles Andersen and Charlie Susi each had singles.

Joe Herbst and Mike Sowle each had singles for Galway.

Fonda-Fultonville is slated to host Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
