H.S. Baseball Roundup: Patriots get past Huskies

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin-Perth baseball team won both ends of its Foothills Council doubleheader with Gloversville on Saturday.

The Patriots won the first game, 14-6, and the second game, 5-2.

Both games were played at B-P.

In the first game, Justin Hertik had a triple, single, RBI and scored a run for B-P.

Dante Calderone was 4-for-5 with a run scored for the Patriots, Sam Vainauskas had two doubles, two RBIs and scored a run, and Jack Marsden had a double, single and two RBIs. Mike Magliocca added a double and scored three runs for B-P.

Julian Deumaga was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Gloversville, while Garrett Dooling had a double and two RBIs. Anthony Tomek-Russell had a single, RBI and scored two runs for the Huskies and Nicholas Nellis had a single and an RBI.

In the second game, Brodryk Benton had two singles and scored a run to lead B-P.

Marsden had a double and scored two runs, while Hertik and Geren each had a single and an RBI.

Dane Dillenback had a triple, single and an RBI for Gloversville, while Jeremy Lombardoni had a double. Raymond Strauser and Tomek-Russell each had singles for the Huskies.

Broadalbin-Perth (12-5 overall, 8-5 Foothills) is slated to travel to Coxsackie-Athens on Monday for a non-league game at 4:30 p.m.

Gloversville (2-12 overall, 2-11 Foothills) is scheduled to host Mechanicville on Monday at 7 p.m.

FONDA — Massimo DiCaprio had a double and an RBI to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Cade Kearns had a single and an RBI for the Braves (11-6 overall, 10-4 WAC), while Myles Andersen and Kyle Lawyer each had an RBI.

Jacob Flower had two singles for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, while Quinn Toomey had a single and an RBI. Tyler Goodemote, Will Boltri, Trevor Burnside and Grant Scram all had singles for the Bulldogs.

BERNE — Von Baker pitched a four-hitter to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Baker struck out 11, walked one and allowed two earned runs in seven innings.

Baker also went 3-for-4 at the play with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Travis Lafountain and Mason Snell each had a single and a double for the Wolves. Lafountain also had two RBIs.

Jacob Flower and Will Boltri each had doubles for Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

GALWAY — Mike Sowle was 4-for-4 with two doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored to help Galway to a WAC victory over Mayfield.

The Golden Eagles had 23 hits in the game.

Joe Herbst was 3-for-3 with four runs scored for Galway, Josh Jankowski was 3-for-3, Christian Hines was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, and Erik Malanoski had two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Alex Malanoski had a double and two RBIs for the Golden Eagles, Brendan Shader had two singles and two runs scored, and Mike Zelezniak had two singles and three RBIs.

Henry Flint earned the win on the mound for Galway, allowing three hits, striking out 10 and walking three in five innings. Flint also was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored at the plate.

Darren Frasier, Dallas Hines and Owen Graf all had singles for Mayfield, which dropped a 6-5 decision to Mekeel Christian Academy in its second game of the day.

GALWAY — Jack Montayne, Richie Tamsett and Isaiah Logan all had two hits to lead Canajoharie to a WAC victory over Mekeel Christian Academy in a game played at Galway.

Josh Herget had five RBIs for the Cougars, while Riley Montayne had three.

Tamsett also earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit in five innings.

Dolgeville 13, Poland 4

POLAND — Dolgeville scored in six of seven innings on its way to a victory over Poland.

Isaiah Zuchowski had three singles for Poland, while Ben Deragon had two singles. Ethan Satterlee had a double and two RBIs for the Tornadoes.

In its second game of the day, Dolgeville lost at home to West Canada Valley, 19-2.
