H.S. Baseball Roundup: Amsterdam rolls past Johnstown

AMSTERDAM — Matt Murphy had three doubles and two RBIs to power Amsterdam to a 13-3 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council baseball game Friday at Shuttleworth Park.

Jeffrey Brennan went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Rams (16-1 overall, 12-0 Foothills), who won their 16th straight game.

Ethan Wager went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Johnstown (1-13 overall, 1-11 Foothills).

The teams will meet again in Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Bishop Gibbons 4, Fonda-Fultonville 3

FONDA — Colin Campbell had a double and a single to help Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Fonda-Fultonville.

The win clinched the WAC Hudson Division title for the Golden Knights, who improved to 12-2 in WAC play.

Matt Kordziel and Christian Baaki each had singles and two RBIs for Bishop Gibbons, while Tyree Parker added a single.

Brady Myles had two singles and two RBIs for FFCS (10-6 overall, 9-4 WAC), while Justin Keans, Myles Andersen and Massimo DiCaprio all had singles.

Fonda-Fultonville is slated to host Berne-Knox-Westerlo today at 10 a.m. before traveling to Schenectady to face Bishop Gibbons on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

BERNE — Grant Scram, Jacob Flower and Quinn Toomey all had a double and a single to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Mayfield.

Owen Graf had two singles for Mayfield (2-11 overall, 1-10 WAC), while Max Insogna added a double.

The Panthers are scheduled to travel to Galway today for a 10:30 a.m. game before facing Mekeel Christian Academy at 1 p.m. today at Galway.
