H.S. Baseball Roundup: Amsterdam edges Broadalbin-Perth, 1-0

AMSTERDAM — Michael Rocas had an RBI single in the eighth inning to score Peyton Ausfeld and lift Amsterdam to a 1-0 victory over Broadalbin-Perth in a Foothills Council baseball game at Shuttleworth Park on Thursday.

Carson Cotugno and Andrew Bracchi combined on a one-hitter for the Rams, who won their 15th straight game.

Cotugno allowed one hit, struck out eight and walked two in seven innings, while Bracchi pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Peyton Ausfeld had two singles for Amsterdam (15-1 overall, 11-0 Foothills), while Trey Ausfeld had a double. Francisco Rodriguez-Santana, Jake Greco and Jeffrey Brennan all had singles.

Dante Calderone had a single in the second inning for the lone hit for B-P (10-5 overall, 6-5 Foothills).Sam Vainauskas pitched 7 1/3 innings for B-P, allowing seven hits, striking out four and walking three.

Amsterdam is scheduled to host Johnstown today at 4:30 p.m., while B-P will host Gloversville in a doubleheader Saturday.

Scotia-Glenville 16, Gloversville 4

SCOTIA — Cole Holstein went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a double to power Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council victory over Gloversville.

Kyle Brown, Tyler Cannoe and Ryan Rockwell all had two hits for the Tartans. Brown had a triple and Rockwell added three RBIs.

Dane Dillenback had a triple and a single for Gloversville, while Anthony Tomek-Russell and Garrett Dooling each had two singles.

Fort Plain 5, Duanesburg 1

DUANESBURG –Troy Butler had two singles, an RBI and scored a run to lead Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Duanesburg.

Nate Buley had an RBI single for the Hilltoppers, while Taylor Gifford had a single. Brady Fureno and Bryce Thibodeau each had an RBI for Fort Plain, Dawson Nare scored two runs, and Tyler Vogel and Ethan Schoch each scored a run.

John Cortese earned the win on the mound for Fort Plain (13-0 overall, 12-0 WAC), striking out 11 in six innings.

The Hilltoppers are first in the latest state rankings.

DOLGEVILLE — Logan Campbell had three singles and two RBIs to lead Hamilton to a victory over Dolgeville.

Ryan Hunt had a double and a single for Hamilton, while Zach Bernard and Jules Fravil each had two singles.

Dolgeville (2-7 overall) is scheduled to travel to Poland on Saturday for a 10 a.m. game before returning home to host West Canada Valley at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

WELLS — Shane Kennedy had three hits and two RBIs to lead Wells to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference victory over Indian Lake-Long Lake on Wednesday.

Cody Stuart had two hits, three runs scored and three RBIs for the Indians (6-3 overall, 6-3 MVAC), while Jordan Biederman had a double and scored two runs.

Tyler Bolebruch added four hits, including a triple, for Wells.
