Gloversville tennis loses in quarterfinals
SCOTIA — Scotia-Glenville won four of five singles matches and both doubles contests to post a 6-1 victory over Gloversville in a Section II Class A quarterfinal match Wednesday.
Ethan McKone, Jared O’Connor, Keith Ogden and Ryan McKone all won singles matches for the Tartans, who also won both regular-season meetings with the Huskies by scores of 6-1.
Lucas Kownack and Nick Nielsen won at first doubles for Scotia-Glenville (14-0 overall), while Kofi Jack and Shane McKone won at second doubles.
Damian Bruce posted the lone win for Gloversville (7-8 overall), posing a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Tartans’ Jacob McKenzie.
In other quarterfinal matches Wednesday, second-seeded Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake topped seventh-seeded South Glens Falls, 7-0; No. 4 seed Queensbury defeated fifth-seeded LaSalle, 6-1; and third-seeded Averill Park blanked sixth-seeded Ballston Spa, 7-0.
Scotia-Glenville will host Queensbury in today’s semifinals, while Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake will host Averill Park.
