Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Lady Bills roll past Greenwich
GREENWICH — Taryn Ringer finished with six goals and three assists to lead Johnstown to a 15-5 victory over Greenwich in a Foothills Council girls lacrosse contest Tuesday.
With her effort, Ringer passed the single-season record for points, which was previously set by Jenna Stock in 2006.
Maddie Etherton had three goals for the Lady Bills, Ally Queeney had two goals and two assists, and Rachel Lee had two goals and an assist. Amber Tesi had a goal and three assists for Johnstown, Emily Fleming also scored and Molly Memrick added an assist.
With her two goals, Queeney hit the 100-goal mark for her career.
Marley Smith scored twice to lead Greenwich, while Faith Hewitt had a goal and an assist. MacKenzie Dixson and Summer Wilbur also scored for the Witches.
Mari-Ahna Manchester made 11 saves for the Lady Bills, while Sophie Manera made 21 stops for Greenwich.
Johnstown (14-1 overall, 11-1 Foothills) now awaits the pairings for the Section II Class D Tournament which will be announced today.
Schuylerville 19, Amsterdam 9
SCHUYLERVILLE — Eliza Barton and Brooke Keefer each had four goals to lead Schuylerville to a Foothills Council victory over Amsterdam.
Sadie Tavares had three goals and an assist for the Black Horses, while Brooke Thomas had three goals. Claire Barton, Jocelyn Benware, Taylor Berrigan, Madison Eugair and Isabel Reitano-Stayer also scored for Schuylerville.
Kayli Hoefs finished with four goals and an assist for Amsterdam, while Sydney Hoefs had four goals. Elena Fedullo also scored for the Lady Rams and Karen Troche added an assist.
Katie Claps made six saves for Schuylerville, while Kelly Kilgallen made two saves for Amsterdam, which ended its season with a 3-12 overall record and a 2-10 mark in Foothills Council play.
