FMCC baseball wraps up its season

HERKIMER — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College baseball team wrapped up its season with a doubleheader at Herkimer College on Thursday.

The Raiders lost the first game, 10-0, before tying the Generals in the second game, 3-3. The Raiders finished the season 7-17-1 overall.

In the first game, the Raiders struggled to put runs on the board and the Generals took advantage early and racked up 10 hits.

Offensively for FMCC, Joshua McCaffrey, Julio Jimenez, William Newcomb, Alex VanDeusen, and Noah Wygel each collected a hit.

On the mound, Michael Brown took the loss for the Raiders. He gave up nine runs on eight hits, striking out three.

In the second game, Dan Parslow was on the hill for FMCC. He pitched all nine innings, gave up nine hits, struck out four and allowed just two runs in the tie.

FMCC led 3-2 heading into the fifth, but a double by the Generals tied the score 3-3 and the game was halted by darkness after nine innings.

Jimenez, VanDeusen, Newcomb, McCaffrey, Brown and Derek Lee each had singles in the game.

Parslow and McCaffrey were shared the team’s Most Valuable Player award. Blake Carey was given the Coach’s Award.
