Bruce earns fifth seed for tourney
SCHENECTADY — Gloversville’s Damian Bruce earned the fifth seed for the Section II Boys Tennis Singles Tournament.
Bruce reached the quarterfinals of last year’s tournament and is 13-0 this season.
Gloversville’s Ryan Issa and Amsterdam’s Nick Antonelli also will compete in the singles tournament, which is scheduled to begin Monday at Central Park in Schenectady.
Saratoga Springs’ Nick Grasso was seeded first, Christian Brothers Academy’s Michael Kendrick was seeded second, Averill Park’s Eric Schuman was seeded third and Chatham’s Keon Armstrong was seeded fourth.
Albany Academy’s Aiden O’Brien and Will O’Brien earned the No. 1 seed for the Section II Doubles Tournament, Bethlehem’s Govind Chari and Lleyton Emery were seeded second, Niskayuna’s Ricky Dartawan and Jarod Rackliffe earned the third seed, and Bethlehem’s Michael Bievenue and Kevin Lin were seeded fourth.
Amsterdam’s Spencer Flint and Philip Johnson, Gloversville’s Asher Lopresti and Simon Bruce, and Gloversville’s Emran Abbas and Nick Vincent will all compete in the doubles tourney
