Amsterdam’s Santiago wins 400 meters at Eddy Meet

SCHENECTADY — Amsterdam’s Lauren Santiago won the 400-meter dash Saturday at the 79th annual William F. Eddy Invitational at Schenectady High School.

Santiago won with a school-record time of 56.07 seconds, which is the top time in the state this spring.

Gabby Stanavich was third in the 100-meter hurdles for Amsterdam with a time of 15.12 seconds, while Amsterdam’s Jackie Stanavich also made the final, placing eighth with a time of 16.64 seconds.

Gabby Stanavich also placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:05.82, while Jackie Stanavich was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-2, which tied the school record.

Amsterdam’s Charli Beekman qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash, finishing seventh with a time of 12.79 seconds.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Ava Tyler was sixth in the pole vault with a height of 10-0.

Mayfield-Northville’s Madison Relyea was seventh in the 800 meters (2:20.02) and 10th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:52.31.

Shenendehowa won the girls team title with 68 points. Uniondale was second with 48 points and Saratoga Springs was third with 44 points. Amsterdam placed seventh with 23 points and Broadalbin-Perth was 26th with 6 points.

In the boys meet, Uniondale claimed the team title with 69 points. Colonie was second with 44 points and Essex (Vt.) was third with 38 points.

Broadalbin-Perth was 14th with 11.5 points, Canajoharie and Fonda-Fultonville tied for 22nd with 8 points, and Johnstown was 32nd with 2 points.

Canajoharie’s Marcus Johnson was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.35 seconds. Johnson also was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 41-11.

Fonda-Fultonville freshman Alex Saltsman was second in the discus with a throw of 142-9.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Sean Meher was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 43-2, while Broadalbin-Perth’s Daniel Dylong tied for fifth in the pole vault with a height of 12-0

John Coddington was fourth in the discus with a throw of 136-9 and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 48-8 1/2.

Johnstown finished fifth in the 4 x 400 relay as the team of Sebastian Mills, Nolan Hayes, Trey Stover and Matthew Boyle posted a time of 3:31.39.

Mayfield-Northville’s Evan Lehr was seventh in the high jump with a height of 6-0.
